Warehouse Safety Checklist

Dock Lock Systems*
Are "Dock Lock" systems functional and maintained in working order, and chocks installed on trailers before loading?
Truck/Trailer Floor and Chocks*
Are the floors of trailers and trucks always inspected and chocked before forklifts or pallet jacks are driven onto them?
Dock Plates*
Are all dock plates, leveling or manual, and equipment to activate the plate mechanisms in good working condition?
Auditory Warning Equipment Use*
Are the warning horns being properly used while equipment is traveling through warehouse racking and pedestrian zones?
Stairways and Ladders*
Do stairways and ladders from the dock floor to the dock meet OSHA specifications?
Pedestrian Traffic*
Are pedestrians in dock area trained to walk in aisles striped by yellow tape or paint to identify walkway barriers, doorways, parking aisles and vehicle lanes?
Pallet Racking Physical Condition*
Are pallet racks visibly damaged by forklifts removed and disposed of properly? (i.e. Bent horizontal cross braces; Dings, dents, and damaged end pieces)
Pallet Inventory Condition*
Is all visible inventory in storage in good, stable condition? No signs of collapse, shifting or other instability?
Workplace illumination*
Are there any out/broken or obstructed lights that need to be addressed within the facility?
Spills and Slip Hazards*
Are work surfaces kept clean and dry or are appropriate means taken to assure the surfaces are slip-resistant? Are spill hazard signs available?
Entrance/Exit Pathways*
Are exit doors readily accessible and unlocked from the inside during operating hours?
Fire Aisles & Equipment*
Are fire aisles, access to stairways, and fire equipment kept clear?
